ai and video games - 10/12/23

i'm writing this in the end-of-quarter celebration! me and my friends are hanging out and doing... whatever. i'm working on my website. i finally caved in and made a stylesheet. apparently this might be a neocities thing, but the way fonts are displayed, the code only works on inline css, not stylesheets; so that's tedious. luckily fonts are the only style element i need!

also, the font that's being used isn't even on my page anymore? weird.

another thing! two people have left comments on my guestbook!!!!!!! thank you both so much, you give me a reason to keep hosting this stuff.

now, the main topic of today's post: ai. personally, as a writer, an artist, a developer, and so much more, i think ai is almost nothing but helpful to us. "oh, corvon, what about art theft and-" yeah im getting into that. shut up.

ai art like craiyon and stable diffusion have a reputation for stealing art without any credit at all, even leaving botched watermarks. some are being trained on twitter, some on ao3 for writing, some on deviantart, but they all incorporate the same core function: create, no matter what.

if i may add as well, it's becoming increasingly more difficult to diferentiate ai and real art. what does this all mean for artists? what does it mean for writers, developers, creators? i don't know yet. all i know is that i will continue to help and work on this kind of stuff, period.

our second topic, video games. i am a giant fan of games. you could even say i'm a...gamer. (im so sorry ) recently, i've been into desktop games instead of console or mobile. also, is mobile pronounced moh-bill or mo-bile ? compared to console, you'd think it'd be moh-bill, but i have no idea.

i've also been playing with friends more. me and a few friends have been playing a lot of terraria and stardew valley. on switch, i have an 180 hour stardew file. for terraria, the only experience i had before this was a few buildings on my 2DS. i would cower in the night. the only thing i did was build. i'm pretty sure if you showed little-me a photo of the wall of flesh, he would run away crying.

you might have noticed these are shorter paragraphs. why? well, it's easier to read, for one. aaaaand that's the only reason! :D
